Major: History

Talk to me about: cooking shows, songs+social movements, and children's books

About Me: I am from East Side San Jose, and come from a family full of strong Vietnamese women. Lately, I've been thinking about the marginalization that arises in groups that were built for those at the margins...What does this mean for low-income folks in cultural groups, or Southeast/South Asians in pan-Asian American orgs, or people who are trying to be in solidarity? This year, I hope my work will center on these issues above all. Planning for a powerful year, and excited to work together! Feel free to get in touch.

About Me: Hi everyone! I'm Janet and I'm excited for my first year on AASA Core! As a first generation Chinese American and a Bay Area native, my Asian American identity has always played a prominent role in the way I feel, act and experience virtually everything. This year, I hope to learn lot about API history and issues--especially with regard to API immigrant narratives and intergenerational relationships. I'm still deciding what future I want to pursue--right now, I'm interested in entering the field of healthcare to remediate API health disparities. I enjoy writing, reading, rock climbing, spending time with friends and being in nature.
